We can assist ship owners, brokers, lenders and insurers with reviewing, pre-clearing, notarising and registering ship mortgages, bills of sale, powers of attorney, declaration of a change of or continued ownership and appointment of authorised officer, at various ship registries located in London.

Accessible

Anytime, anywhere

We assist for claims in foreign jurisdictions where the signatories to the required documents are located in England and Wales. We can attend your offices for having the mortgages, discharge of mortgages and/or transfer of mortgages, powers of attorney executed before the notary, and we can liaise with the relevant ship registry in respect to the preclearance and registration of the same.

For the notarisation of the above-mentioned documents, we would need to confirm the identity of the signatory. If it is in relation to a company, it would be the authorised signatory, usually the director of the company.

Identifying signatories

We identify the signatories by their passport and proof of address and establish authority of the signatory to represent a company or other organisation on the basis of companies register inspections, authorised signatory lists and powers of attorney. Signatories can meet us in any of our London offices or make use of our external attendance services – the notary can travel to your office or another venue of your choice anywhere in England and Wales by prior appointment – fees to be confirmed in advance based on the postcode.

The Bahamas Maritime Authority and the Panamanian Authority are the most commonly used registries, however we can, of course, advise and assist with other ship and shipping registries of all major flags in the world as well.

We regularly work with all the Consulates in London, and we are also members of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, Arab British Chamber of Commerce and Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
